WORSHIP MINISTRIES

Worship ministries center around worship and liturgy, and all the people it takes to make worship and liturgy possible in our parish.  Training is provided for all ministries throughout the year.

Altar Bread BakerS -- Rotating groups gather weekly to bake unleavened bread for our eucharistic celebrations.  Contact Eileen Graziano, 972-436-6005.

ALTAR LINEN LAUNDERS -- Rotating individuals launder and press eucharistic linens with timeliness and dependability.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.

ALTAR MINISTERS --  Assist the presider at Mass. Coordinate the liturgical ministers before Mass, participate in processions, the preparation of the Table, and prepare liturgical items needed for Mass. Candidates must be flexible, efficient, and adaptable, and have previous experience as a eucharistic minister.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.

Bread Plate Holder Ministry -- Assists at Mass during the distribution of Eucharist by holding the bread plate for Eucharistic Ministers. This ministry is usually done by children who have received First Eucharist.  Training provided.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word Presider -- Lead the children’s portion of the Liturgy of the Word by proclaiming the Gospel to this group setting, and preaching to the children in an age-appropriate manner. Rotating schedule, usually once every 4-6 weeks at Mass of your choice (Saturday, 4:00 pm, Sunday 9:30 and 11:30 am). Contact Susan Sandles, 972-219-5838.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word Helper -- Help the Children’s Liturgy of the Word Presider with maintaining good order at this age-appropriate liturgy.  Must be Middle School age or older.  Contact Susan Sandles, 972-219-5838.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION  Provides an opportunity for parishioners of St. Philip to pray in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  Thursdays, 10:00 am, Chapel.  Contact Ron Tremethick, 972-436-0895.

Eucharistic Ministers -- Distribute the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass. Rotating schedule, usually every 2-3 weeks at Mass of your choice.  Training provided.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.

FLOWER MINISTRY -- Part of the Art and Environment team that decorates and enhances our Worship Center.  Tasks might be to drive to a wholesale florist to pick up an order, take down an old arrangement and clean vases, or arrange flowers and set them out in the Worship Center.  Contact parish office, 972-436-9581.

Hospitality Ministers – Ushers and Greeters -- Greet and welcome all who come to celebrate Mass. Offer assistance and direction to any newcomers.  Assist with seating people, taking up the collection, keeping good order during the Communion procession, handing out bulletins, offering aid to the disabled and the elderly, or with any emergencies that might occur.  Training is provided for the above duties, and offered for building evacuation, CPR, and cardiac defibrillator.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.

Ministers of the Word (Lector) -- Proclaim God’s Word in a meaningful and alive manner at Mass, funerals, weddings, or other liturgies.  Adequate preparation of the Scriptures is required.  Training and coaching provided.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.

TAPESTRY TEAM -- Assist with set-up and take down of seasonal liturgical items including tapestries, icons, flowers, and other worship space items.  Days/times vary.  Contact Gail-Ann Colaruotolo, 972-219-8471.
